Massage
therapy has long been a solution for pain management, stress relief,
and relaxation. It aids the circulatory system, soothes sore
muscles, and helps realign the body.
Melody has extensive education and experience as a massage
therapist. Her specialties are Trigger Point therapy and Thai
massage, but she also has strong skills in such modalities as Swedish,
Deep Tissue, Hot Stone Therapy, and Chair massage. Melody
has well over 100 hours of education in Thailand for Thai massgae
therapies.
Swedish—
A very relaxing modality characterized by long, slow strokes, kneading,
and circular motions using the hands, soft fists, and forearms.
This is the type of massage one would generally get at a spa. The
client is draped with a sheet, and portions of the body being massaged
are un-draped. Oil or lotion is used.
Chair—Any
modality done in a specially-designed massage chair. This type of
work is generally done in offices, at parties, outdoors, or in any
other public arena. The client is fully dressed and oil and
lotion are generally not used.
Hot Stone Therapy--
An extremely relaxing, extremely therapeutic modality using smooth,
heated river rocks to help work into the tissue. Highly
recommended.
Deep Tissue— Very slow,
deliberate work with the intention of loosening restrictions in the
fascia. The work may include body positioning and breathwork. The
client is draped with a sheet, and portions of the body being massaged
are un-draped. A small amount of shea butter or other similar
lotion will be used.
Thai-- Think of it as getting all
of the benefits of yoga without having to do any of the work!
Thai massage includes pressing and kneading of the muscles using the
hands, elbows, forearms, knees, and feet along energy lines, and
passive yoga-like stretching. This type of work is extremely
effective in relieving deep or chronic muscle pain and in improving
flexibility. The client will usually wear loose clothing, such as
sweatpants, and the work is generally done on a mat. Oil and
lotion are generally not used. Melody has been trained in Thailand for Thai massage modalities.
Thai Foot Massage and Reflexology--
a great way to relieve sore feet, this modality also helps to detoxify
and balance the body through stimulation of specific points on the
feet. This massage ends with a relaxing foot bath and
scrub.
Thai Herbal Ball Massage-- A
very deep, very therapeutic massage that utilizes a steam-heated,
aromatic pack (or "herbal ball") filled with medicinal Thai herbs to
aid in the healing process. Extremely relaxing and highly recommended.
Trigger Point--
Trigger points are hyper-irritated, contracted areas of the muscle that
cause localized and referred pain. Trigger point therapy
concentrates directly on these areas, sometimes for several minutes at
a time. The work is very deep and can be intense, and it is
extremely effective in relieving chronic pain. The client is draped
with a sheet, and portions of the body being massaged are
un-draped. Oil and lotion are generally not used.
Myofascial Release—Releases
restrictions in the fascia using traction, compression, extension,
pressing, and realigning the body. This work is extremely
therapeutic and is much like passive physical therapy in nature. It is
extremely effective in relieving chronic pain. The client is draped
with a sheet, and portions of the body being massaged are
un-draped. Oil and lotion are generally not used.
Out calls throughout the Los Angeles area and in calls are both available. Please contact Melody for further information.
All
massage through Flawless Fitness is for therapeutic purposes only-- it
is completely non-sexual. Please note that any inappropriate
requests will result in termination of the massage, and the session
